sailing to hota_

hota is a fishing port on the north eastern edge of tokyo bay_i sailed there on motesaku_ a yacht_beginning of spring_heavy squall_in the yacht eating_onsen bath_slept overnight_returned following day in sunny conditions_8 knots of breeze_

sydney is a beach_

& a frangipani flower_& the sydney harbour bridge from the manly ferry_& the strand arcade_& a terrace house in newtown_bbq's & family_

the last of the bohemians_no need to dwell in the past when it is a past made by human construction_the lives lived there were larger_where it is not monumental in scale nor monumental in purpose it is just a part_tokyo is a monument_yanaka is a bolt that is a part of the construction_it is a rusting old bolt_an old bowl_it was old 1,000 years ago_yanaka is an old part of tokyo_down town but also old town_it once would have had water on three sides_on a rising slope_facing south_it would have enjoyed good conditions for living over a long period_this place was bombed during the 2nd world war_many of the original houses would have been destroyed & the new ones there now would have replaced them during the late 40's and 50's & then into the boom years of another century_the 60's and the 70's_the streets & all close together_the houses small_there is a slow journey to move there now_it is a creative area_there are many art galleries_it is the last bohemian place in tokyo_

new zealand trip_

sister was in new zealand the other day_she sent this photo_& others_surf was moving around a bit_some fishing had_banjo's on the beach_all very good_there are a couple of people i know in new zealand_all seem happy with the place_& certainly the elements of nature_isolation & art & culture that appears are enticing_tokyo does have a bit more energy for me_the balance of both would be good for the other i feel_i will be there soon for a look_won't do it in winter i am sure_i understand cold_& after last christmas in sydney_i understand hot_i will add some photos from internal trips in tokyo_kyoto_mountains_
